Lenten Activities and Apps

In the midst of our busy lives, it is sometimes hard to find time to focus on Lent. Below are some websites and Apps that can help you take a few moments in your day to keep the Lenten Season.

Creating a Lenten Prayer SPace

Children, especially young children, often relate to what they can see  and touch better than what they hear.  A small table with a cross an empty bowl and purple cloth, among other things, is the beginning of a sensory journey through Lent for families.

Crown of Thorns Craft

How to:

Using bread dough or clay, braid a circle.
As a family, put in 40 tooth picks each to create the "crown of thorns."

Each day of Lent, allow each family member to take out 1 tooth pick when they complete a Lenten sacrifice or do something positive/make a loving choice.

At the end of Lent, all the tooth picks will be removed from the crown due to the kind or sacrificial acts from each member of the family.

For Easter, paint the braided crown gold to turn it into the crown for the risen King of Kings and display it as a reminder of the ways that your family can work together to glorify God!

Bonus: Create a family Talk Ritual by gathering together every night and sharing what each person did to remove a thorn from Jesus crown and glorify God that day!

Pray as you go is a daily prayer session, designed to go with you wherever you go, to help you pray whenever you find time, but particularly whilst travelling to and from work, study, etc.

A new prayer session is produced every day of the working week and one session for the weekend.  It is not a 'Thought for the Day', a sermon or a bible-study, but rather a framework for your own prayer.
